- Andhra Pradesh sought funds under Special Status Category as the state was affected due to bifurcation
- Finance Minister said that, the category of special status category no longer exists as per the fourteenth finance commission report and hence Andhra no longer be put in that category
- Special Status Category status used to be originally granted to state in the northeast because their own revenue was inadequate and in case of any centrally sponsored schemes, the centre pays 60% and the states can pay only 40%
