How the SC Judge is appointed?

Ø When
a vacancy arises, the CJI sends his recommendation to the Union Law Minister
Ø The
CJI’s opinion should be formed in consultation with a Collegium of seniormost
Supreme Court judges
Ø The
Union Law Minister then forwards it to the Prime Minister, who in turn
advises the President
Ø The
warrant of appointment is signed by the President and notification is issued
in the Gazette
