The Abel Prize in Mathematics was awarded
to Ms. Karen Uhlenbeck of the U. S. for her work on partial differential
equations. With this, she becomes the first woman to win the award. The Abel
Prize is also called as Nobel Prize for Mathematics. The prize award for Abel
prize is $7, 03, 000. The prize is named after the 19th century Norwegian
mathematician Niels Henrik Abel.
