# Election Commission said that, the Presidential Election (if

- The President of
India is elected by an electoral college comprising elected members of Rajya
Sabha, Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies. It also includes assemblies
of Delhi and Puducherry
- As of 2017, the
electoral college is made up of 4896 legislators, out of which 776 are MPs and
4120 are MLAs
- All the MPs will
have an equal vote value of 708 while vote value of the MLAs depends on the
population of the State
- The total strength
of 2017 Electoral college is 1104546 votes
- In order to win the
election, it is necessary to reach the halfway mark of 549442 votes; presently
BJP is standing at about 5.38 lakh votes
