Reserve Bank Governor Raghuram Rajan announced a surprise repo rate cut, his second in less than two months. Repo rate has been reduced by 25 basis points or 0.25 per cent to 7.5 per cent with immediate effect.
Bharti Airtel has entered into a partnership with China Mobile, the world's largest telco, for jointly sourcing devices and equipment as well as developing 4G technology and standards, a development which will help India's biggest telecom operator take on Reliance Jio Infocomm

Earth System Science Organization–India Meteorological Department (ESSO-IMD) has developed and launched a mobile application for android based smart phone / tablets. The mobile app by the name ‘Indian Weather’ is downloadable from Google play store, free of cost. Presently, the app provides current weather and 4 days weather forecast across the country for 310 cities.

Australian cricket team created the World Cup record for highest-ever score of 417 for 6 in a match against Afghanistan in Perth. It defeated Afghanistan by 275 runs which was the biggest winning margin in the tournament’s history.
The Delhi High Court upheld the conviction of former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala and his son along with 53 others in the teachers recruitment scam. They had been awarded a 10 year jail term in January 2013 by a Special CBI court.
