UN Dag Hammarsjold Medal
· 2 Indians awarded posthumously
· Lance Naik Nand Ram and Raju Joseph
· May 29 is International Day of UN peacekeepers
· The Dag Hammarsjkold Medal is named after the second UN Secretary-General and Swedish diplomat Dag Hammarsjkold (1953-1961), who died in a mysterious plane crash, and is given to members of UN Peacekeeping missions, who lose their lives during service. It was established in 2000.

Space Pioneer Award for ISRO
· The country’s low-cost Mars mission, which is in rendezvous with the red planet for an extended period, has been presented with the space pioneer award for 2015 by the U.S. National Space Society.
· UK Author Ali Smith won the 2015 Baileys Women's Prize for Fiction
· Novel: How to be Both.
Edward Snowden wins Bjornson Prize for Freedom of Expression
· Edward Snowden is a former Security Analyst at the United States National Security Agency.
· The administration branded him “a hacker and a traitor” who endangered many lives by revealing the extent of the NSA spying program.
Japan’s Fukuoka Prize for historian Ramachandra Guha
· For Japan’s most coveted prize Fukuoka Prize in academics category, India’s famous Historian Ramachandra Guha has been selected.
· Others who got this prize are Thant Myint-U(Grand Prize) and Minh Hanh ( Arts and Culture). This Fukuoka Prize honors persons who had made outstanding contributions in the fields of arts and culture, academics in Asia.
National Award for Statistics
