AYUSH KAVACH APP
Uttar Pradesh
Government launched Ayush Kavach application to help people access
prescriptions. These prescriptions will help the people to strengthen their
resistance through ancient practices Ayurveda and Yoga. The application aims
to boost the immunity of the people through Ayurveda medicines. The Ayush
Kavach application is to provide health related information and also tips
about using ayurvedic medicines.

international pledging conference
Around 40 countries
took part on an online summit called Global Response International Pledging
Conference. The Conference was initiated by European Union. USA and Russia
did not take part in the conference. China where the virus originated was
represented by its ambassador. The main aim of the conference was to raise
funds for research of COVID-19, especially vaccine development. The
Conference was initiated by the European Union. long with the European Union,
the other countries that co-hosted the conference includes Canada, UK,
France, Italy, Germany, Norway, Japan and Saudi Arabia.

The Himachal
Pradesh Government is to launch a new programme called “Nigah”. The programme
aims at educating family members that are coming from other parts of the
country. The Nigah Programme is to deploy ASHA, anganwadi and health workers
to create awareness about maintaining social distancing during home
quarantine. Under the programme the health workers will sensitize the members
of the family that are arriving from other states.

The Directorate
General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) operating under Ministry of Civil Aviation
launched “GARUD” Portal. GARUD is Government Authorisation for Relief Using
Drones. The GARUD portal will assist state entities to obtain exemptions from
central government to operate drones for COVID-19 purposes. The portal is
important as several state entities are deploying drones to disinfect public
places.

“lost at home”
UNICEF released its
report called “Lost at Home”. The report enforces the risks and challenges of
internally displaced children and the need to protect them. According to the
report, at the end of 2019, around 46 million people were internally
displaced due to conflict and violence. Among them, every four out of 10 were
children, which is 19 million children. The three major countries that
accounted to more than half of persons displaced due to conflict and violence
are Syrian Arab Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo and Yemen. In India, according to the report, the displacements
were mainly due to disasters. Around 5 million were displaced in India in
2019 due to natural disasters. This mainly includes floods and storms.

US President, Mr. Donald
Trump appointed Indian American Diplomat Manisha Singh as his envoy to OECD
(Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development). OECD was founded in
1961 with headquarters at Paris, to improve world trade and stimulate global
economic progress. India is not a member of OECD. Recently, President Trump
appointed Indian American Ashok Michael Pinto as US representative to IBRD
(International Bank of Reconstruction and Development).
NITI Aayog along
with Primal Foundation launched Surakshit Dada-Dadi and Nana-Nani Abhiyan.
The scheme focuses to ensure the wellbeing of the senior citizens. The
campaign targets to reach 2.9 million senior citizens that are spread in 25
Aspirational Districts. The scheme is aimed to create awareness about several
aspects of senior citizens including their lifestyle and health. The main
objective of the scheme is to protect the senior citizens.

It is an annual
hunting festival observed by tribals of Jharkhand and the neighbouring Odisha
and West Bengal. This year, for the first time in living memory, not a single
animal was killed in event because of a complete lockdown across the state.
