sero survey
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and NCDC (National Centre for Disease Control) are to conduct a sero survey. The survey will help to learn about the prevalaence of COVID – 19 infection. A Sero Survey is testing of blood serum of individuals and determine the presence of antibodies against COVID-19.

thanajavur netti & arambavur wood carvings gets GI TAGS
After a seven-year-long wait, the Thanjavur Netti Works (pith works) and Arambavur Wood Carvings belonging to the central region of Tamil Nadu were awarded the Geographical Indication Tag. Thanjavur Netti Works (Thanjavur Pith Work) is made from Netti (pith) from a marshy plant called as Aeschynomene Aspera. This is a traditional art form and has been transferred from one generation to the next. The Netti Works are widely found in the Brihadeeshwara Temple, Hindu Idols, Garlands, door hangings and decorative pieces. The government has recognised the pith work industry as one of the major handicraft symbols.
Arumbavur wood carvings by the artisans of Perambalur are primarily made out of the wooden logs of, Mango, Lingam tree, Indian Ash tree, Rosewood, Neem tree are used for making sculptures.

BHAROSA
Union Ministry for Human Resource Development (HRD) launched Central University of Odisha (CUO) Helpline “Bharosa” and its Helpline Number 08046801010 through a virtual platform in New Delhi inorder to relieve the distress of student community during the troubled time of the COVID-19.  The helpline aims at providing Cognitive Emotional Rehabilitation Services to all University Students of Odisha.

new economic package
Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi announced an economic package to around Rs. 20 lakh crores to sort out the damages caused by COVID - 19 pandemic. This package is about 10% of India's GDP.  This package will give a new impetus to the development journey of the country in 2020 and a new direction to the Self-reliant India campaign. In order to prove the resolve of a self-reliant India, Land, Labor, Liquidity and Laws all have been emphasized in this package. This economic package is named as “Atma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan”. Champions portal
Ministry of MSME (Micro Small and Medium Enterprises) launches Champions Portal. The portal acts as a technology driven control room cum management information system. The portal aims at creating modern ICT tools to assist Indian MSMEs. Champions stand for Creation and Harmonious Application of Modern Processes for Increasing the Output and National Strength. It aims to increase output and national strength.

FIR AT DOORSTEP
Madhya Pradesh Government launched the country’s first ‘First Information Report (FIR) Aapke Dwar Yojana’ (FIR at your doorstep) at the new Police Control Room, Bhopal to enable people to file FIRs from their homes instead of visiting police stations. Government also launched the helpline ‘Dial 112’ to facilitate immediate availability of ambulance, police and fire fighting services wherever needed.

Council of Scientific & Industrial Research – National Aerospace Laboratories (CSIR-NAL), Bengaluru developed a cost effective, easy to use, compact, non-invasive Bi level Positive Airway Pressure (BiPAP) ventilator ‘Swasth Vayu’ to treat the patients tested positive for COVID-19.

China launched two satellites Xingyun-2 01 and 02 into the orbit by Kuaizhou-1A(KZ-1A) carrier rocket from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in the northwest China, to test the space-based Internet of Things (IoT) communication technology.

fifa u – 17 women’s world cup
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association) U-17 Women’s World Cup confirmed that the tournament will be held from February 17 till March 7, 2021. FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup was scheduled to be held in India from November 2 to 21, 2020 across 5 venues and has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The U-17 Women’s World Cup was originally scheduled to be played across 5 host cities – Navi Mumbai, Guwahati, Ahmedabad, Kolkata and Bhubaneswar. The new dates for the FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup were also announced. It will now be held between 20 January and 6 February 2021 in Panama and Costa Rica.
