JANAUSHADHI WEEK From March 01 – 07 Janaushadhi week is being celebrated across the country from March 01-07, 2020. On this occasion various activities like health checkup Camp, Jan Aushadhi Paricharcha, Jan Aushadhi ka sath are being undertaken. TNHSRP Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Mr. Edappadi K. Palaniswami launched Tamil Nadu Health System Reform Programme (TNHSRP) in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The programme will be implemented with the World Bank’s fund .This was the first Program-for-Results (PforR) project for the Bank in India and the first for Tamil Nadu. The aim of the programme is to strengthen the management of non-communicable diseases (NCD) & injuries, improve the quality of care & reduce the inequities in reproductive and child health services in the State. 108TH INDIAN SCIENCE CONGRESS The Indian Science Congress association (ISCA) announced that Pune will host the annual session of 108th Indian Science Congress on January 3-7, 2021 at Symbiosis International University’s Lavale campus with the theme, “Science and Technology for Sustainable Development with Women Empowerment”. In the last 100 years, Pune will host the prestigious meet for the 4th time. ICC WOMEN’S WORLD CUP 2020 The Women’s T20 World Cup Semifinal to begin from tomorrow. In the first semifinal match, India and England will take on each other and in another match, Australia and South Africa to face each other. The tournament is being held in Australia. FIH WORLD RANKINGS 2020 Fédération Internationale de Hockey or International Hockey Federation (FIH) World Rankings 2020, ranks Indian Hockey men’s team ranks 4th with 2064.14 points  for the 1st time & Women’s team is ranked  9th with 1543 points. The men’s list is topped by Belgium for the first time with 2481.34 & women’s list is topped by Netherlands with  2626.03 points. FINANCE COMMISSION TO HOLD MEETING The Finance Commission will hold a consultation meeting with the Finance Ministers of all States on March 13, 2020 in New Delhi.  This is to discuss issues related to the final report of the Finance Commission for 2021-26 which the Commission is likely to submit in October, 2020. SUMMER OLYMPICS 2020 TO BE DELAYED? Japan’s Olympic Minister is of opinion that the upcoming summer Olympic games, can be held anytime in 2020. Even though, the official start of the game was planned to start on July 24, 2020. The Government sources in Japan said that, organisers could postpone it till the end of the year if the threat of the COVID – 19 persist. COVID – 19 IN INDIA As the Coronavirus is spreading, the Government of India had suspended visas to the nationalities of Italy, Japan, South Korea and Iran. Union Health Ministry had asked all States to identify the medical colleges that can handle the outbreak.  As of now, two persons in India (one form Delhi and the other from Telangana) are affected with the virus.
