CITIES NOMINATEDD FOR UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITES
Government of India
has submitted two nomination dossiers namely ‘Dholavira: A Harappan City’ (in
Gujarat) and ‘Monuments and Forts of Deccan Sultanate at Mandu’ (in Madhya
Pradesh) for inclusion in the World Heritage List for the year 2020.
SUPOSHIT
MAA ABHIYAN
Lok Sabha Speaker Mr.
Om Birla has launched ‘Suposhit Maa Abhiyan’ in his constituency Kota,
Rajasthan, to provide
nutritional support to pregnant women and adolescent girls.
The aim of the
campaign is to preserve & maintain the health of our future generations.
The objective of
this campaign is to keep pregnant women and newborn health. In the first phase
of the campaign, 1,000 kits of 17 kg balanced diet each were provided to 1,000
pregnant women.
Under this Abhiyan,
1,000 women would be given food items for 1 month. At the same time, the health
of the child, including medical examination, blood tests, medicines, delivery
would be covered.
RENAMING
OF JAMMU UNIVERSITY & AIRPORT?
The Jammu Municipal
Corporation (JMC) is on a name – changing spree in Jammu City – resolutions
have been passed to rename the Jammu Airport and the Jammu University after
Hindu Dogra monarchs. Jammu Airport to be renamed as Maharaja Hari Singh Jammu Airport and Jammu
University to be renamed as the Maharaja Gulab Singh Jammu University.

SAYS NO FOR LARGER BENCH TO HEAR ON ARTICLE 370
A five – judge
Constitution Bench led by Just. N. V. Ramana declined a plea to refer to a
larger Bench petitions challenging the abrogation of special status of Jammu
and Kashmir under Article 370 of the Constitution.

KAUSHAL CURRICULUM
University Grants
Commission (UGC) has developed life skills (Jeevan Kaushal) curriculum for undergraduate students at
Universities and Colleges. This Curriculum covers the courses on
communication skills, professional skills, leadership & management skills
and universal human values.
