PSLV
– C30
·
ISRO successfully launched PSLV – C30
from Sriharikota
·
India’s first dedicated satellite for
astronomy research, named ASTROSAT
·
PSLV-C30 is the tenth flight of PSLV
in its 'XL' Configuration.
·
PSLV-C30 also carried six small
satellites from different countries.
·
This launch also marked the first ever
commercial flight of US Satellites from India, four of which share the
boardroom of the PSLV-C30. The other two payloads are of Canada and Indonesia
Mars
Orbiter Mission (MoM): one year
·
The Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM)
successfully completed one year of the mission life around Mars with a large
data set acquired by all five payloads of MOM.
·
On the occasion, Space Applications
Centre of (ISRO), Ahmedabad launched a Mar Atlas.
·
The Atlas contains a compilation of
images acquired by Mars Colour Camera (MCC) and results obtained by other
payload results in a form of scientific atlas.
·
The MOM spacecraft, also known as
Mangalyaan, arrived at the Red Planet on the night of 23 September 2014 just two
days after NASA's Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution probe (MAVEN) reached
Mars orbit.
Shauryanjali
·
1965 Indo-Pak War Exhibition named
Shauryanjali was inaugurated in New Delhi by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar.
·
The exhibition celebrates the victory
of India over Pakistan and remembers the supreme sacrifice of Indian soldiers.
·
Remembering the unmatched valor and
bravery of Indian Armed forces, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley unveiled a
commemorative coin on the occasion.
INS
Vajrakosh
·
The INS Vajrakosh was commissioned by
the Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar at Karwar, Karnataka.
·
INS Vajrakosh is the latest
establishment of the Indian Navy.
·
The Naval units operating out of
Karwar are required to be equipped with specialised armaments and missiles.
·
These sophisticated missiles and
ammunition require special storage facility and specialised servicing
facilities.
·
INS Vajrakosh will have all the
required infrastructure to meet these requirements.
INS
Kochi
·
Union Defence Minister Manohar
Parikkar dedicated the INS Kochi at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai.
·
It is the largest warship built so far
in India weighing over 7500 tonnes.
·
Its nearest competitor is INS Kolkata
that was commissioned in August 2014 and weights around 6800 tonnes.
·
Under the Project 15A three ships were
conceived so far-INS Kolkata, INS Kochi and INS Chennai.
·
While the INS Kolkata is already in
operation, the INS Chennai is expected to join the navy in 2016.
