Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhavana Award
ü Noted filmmaker and poet
Muzaffar Ali was conferred the Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhavana award.
ü The award, instituted by the
All India Congress Committee in honour of the former Prime Minister Rajiv
Gandhi, was presented to Mr. Ali by AICC president Sonia Gandhi and the former
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
ü The AICC celebrates
“sadbhavana diwas” every year to mark the birth anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi.
About the Award:-

Rajiv
Gandhi National Sadbhavana Award (or) Communal Harmony Award is an Indian award
given for outstanding contribution towards promotion of communal harmony,
national integration and peace.
·
The
award was instituted by All India Congress Committee of the Indian National
Congress Party (INC), in 1992 to commemorate the lasting contribution made by
the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi
·
Award
carries a citation and a cash award of Rs. five lakhs.
·
It
is given on 20 August, the birth anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi, which is
celebrated as Sadbhavna Diwas (Harmony Day).
